NBA Makes Major Lu Dort Announcement on Thursday

The Oklahoma City Thunder have a massive game on Thursday night as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Of course, the Thunder were able to overcome a poor first half in Game 1 as they outscored Minnesota 70-40 in the second half to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Now the Thunder will look to do the same on their home court on Thursday night as they try to take a commanding 2-0 series lead before the series shifts to Minnesota for Game 3 on Saturday.

While Oklahoma City is quickly preparing for Game 2 on Thursday night, the NBA made a major announcement regarding one of their key players on Thursday afternoon.

The NBA announced that Thunder guard Lu Dort has been named to the 2024-25 NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Dort is joined by Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley, Draymond Green, Dyson Daniels and Amen Thompson while teammate Jalen Williams was named to the second team.

This is a massive accomplishment for Dort as he led the way for the Thunder on the defensive side of the ball this season.

Of course, the Thunder finished the season with the best defense in the NBA as they led almost every defensive statistical category, thanks in large part to Dort.

Dort finished the season averaging 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and he was also the Thunder’s best defender throughout the season as his teammates lobbied for him to win the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Unfortunately for Dort, he did not win that award but he was able to secure a spot on the All-Defensive First Team, which is well-deserved.

While Dort has been great on the defensive side of the ball this season, he has also produced offensively and now he and the Thunder will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their series against he Timberwolves on Thursday night.
