ESPN analyst has unexpected choice for Carolina Panthers’ 2025 hidden gem

When ESPN’s Louis Riddick highlights a sixth-round pick as a future starter, you pay attention. And if you’re a Carolina Panthers fan, Jimmy Horn Jr. is officially on your radar.

Horn, the speedy rookie wide receiver from Colorado by way of USF, may not have had the flashiest college resume—but he’s walking into a Panthers offense that’s desperate for a spark. With Carolina’s 2025 receiving corps still undecided with the addition of first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan, former first-round pick Xavier Legette, veteran Adam Thielen and second-year UDFA Jalen Coker, Horn is in position to carve out a meaningful role early.

“Time for the 4th annual list of my one favorite non-first round prospect…from EACH team in the 2025 draft that could be a significant contributor/starter within the next 2-3 years,” Riddick tweeted, naming Horn as Carolina’s standout. His endorsement carries weight—Riddick has a strong track record of identifying late-round talent that outperforms expectations.

Horn’s college numbers don’t tell the whole story. Though overshadowed at Colorado by Travis Hunter and others, he averaged 10.5 yards per catch last season and showcased game-breaking potential in limited snaps. His speed and shiftiness in the slot give Bryce Young a new weapon to work with—especially in short-yardage and RPO looks that Carolina is expected to run more of under head coach Dave Canales.

And don’t underestimate how much Horn’s underdog mentality fits this Panthers rebuild. Coming in with a chip on his shoulder, Horn brings elite athleticism and versatility—two traits that Carolina desperately needs to improve its 29th-ranked offense from 2024.
