The 2025 NFL draft is now officially in the books. While the focus among college football fans now shifts to the upcoming season, draft analysts have already begun preparing for 2026. This week, Pro Football Focus has been releasing early lists of players to watch at each position for next spring’s draft. Included on the outlet’s wide receiver list was USC’s Makai Lemon.
After playing in a reserve role as a freshman in 2023, Lemon broke out in 2024. His 52 catches for 764 receiving yards led the Trojans in both categories. Lemon very clearly established himself as one of two elite USC receivers alongside Ja’Kobi Lane.
With Jayden Maiava replacing Miller Moss at quarterback, the hope is that Makai Lemon will take the next step in his evolution. Maiava trusted his receivers to catch deep balls when he played last season. Moss was not as willing to throw down the field. We will have to wait and see if Maiava gives Lemon a chance to post even bigger numbers as a receiver, which would presumably boost his overall NFL draft profile.
