The Washington Capitals bounced back big time against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Second Round of the NHL playoffs.
After Washington appeared as they might get swept after Carolina’s dominant Game 1 victory, the Capitals officially flipped the switch in Game 2 with a 3-1 victory on May 8.
Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson was the team’s lone bright spot in Game 1, stopping 31 of 33 shots on goal in Game 1. Thompson was fantastic against in Game 2.
The Capitals announced, “Thompson stopped 27 of 28 shots faced to earn his fifth win in seven starts this postseason. Thompson has allowed two goals or fewer in six of his seven starts.”
While Thompson continues to dominate, fans are concerned for his backup, Charlie Lindgren, who didn’t participate in Game 2.
Before the Capitals evened the series against the Cane 1-1, Washington posted, “Lindgren will not be available for tonight’s game due to personal family reasons. Mitchell Gibson will serve as the backup goaltender.”
Fans were immediately concerned, especially Thursday night’s theme was inspired by a postgame speech Lindgren gave in January. Fans at the Capital One Arena for Game 2 all received “So Much Agape Love” rally towels.
One fan commented, “Damn. The main Agape man is out. Hope all is well with him.” One woman wrote, “Oh no!! I sure hope everyone is ok. ❤️.” One person posted, “Agape love to him and his family <3.”
According to KNUP Sports, Lindgren will remain out during Game 3 and Game 4 on May 10, and May 12. Several fans wondered and hoped if Lindgren’s absence was due to his wife, Mikkayla Lindgren, giving birth.
The couple announced they were expecting their first child together on Christmas 2024. Spreading a little extra Christmas cheer this year 🎄🎀💗,” captioned the post, per the RMNB.
Based on the pink bow and heart, it seems the Lindgrens are expecting a baby girl.
