BREAKING: Jacksonville Jaguars release WR Gabe Davis

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they have released wide receiver Gabe Davis.

This move comes one season after Davis signed a three-year, $39 million deal under former Jaguars‘ GM Trent Baalke.

A knee injury in 2024 would limit Davis to only 10 games, but even when on the field, the production was never quite there. A big play threat in Buffalo, Davis averaged just 12.0 yards per catch with the Jaguars and caught fewer than 50% of his targets, according to PFF.

Prior to this move, we didn’t exactly know where Davis was going to fit into the Jaguars’ offense. Prior to the draft, Liam Coen highlighted players other than Brian Thomas Jr. that he wanted to get involved and not included in that conversation was Davis.

Davis was due $12 million this season. By moving on from him, the Jaguars are eating a lot of dead cap to do so. If Davis is released as a pre-June 1st designation, he leaves behind a dead cap hit of $20.3 million this season. If designated a post-June
