5 most important players on the Jets offense in 2025

The New York Jets are attempting to improve an offense that finished 24th in scoring (19.9) and yards (310.3) last season.

That responsibility belongs to new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Sweeping changes have been made.

Jets Wire identified the five-most important players on the Jets’ offense heading into 2025:

QB Justin Fields

It goes without saying that the Jets’ offense is heavily reliant on new starting quarterback Justin Fields. Fields was signed to a bridge-type two-year contract to get the Jets through this transitional period. Coach Engstrand will attempt to take advantage of his dual-threat ability. This is the young quarterback’s final opportunity to establish himself as a legitimate starter in the NFL.

WR Garrett Wilson

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (5) is shown as he warms up, Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford.

If Fields thrives, it’s because no. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson made his life easier. Wilson has recorded three consecutive 1,000 yard seasons despite poor quarterback play throughout his short career. He’s eligible to sign a well-deserved contract extension this summer, and he’ll continue being the best player on the Jets’ offense in 2025.

RB Breece Hall

New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) runs with the ball, Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford.

The Jets need better from Breece Hall. The former Iowa State standout rushed for just 876 yards and a career-low 4.2 yards per carry. His five rushing touchdowns also failed to improve on his total from the year prior. Hall is entering a critical make-or-break campaign.

LT Olu Fashanu

Olu Fashanu is stepping into the blindside spot at left tackle after spending the majority of his rookie campaign as a reserve player. Injuries forced Fashanu into a swing role at both tackle positions. He played admirably all things considered, but his first full-time year as a starter will be analyzed much closer.

RT Armand Membou

The Jets drafted Armand Membou to hopefully form the league’s most ascending duo at tackle. The No. 7 overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft immediately steps into the starting lineup. The Jets’ offensive line has top-five potential if Membou hits the ground running.
