Ahead of training camp, Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder predicted the best players from all eight divisions for the upcoming season.
For the Chargers, five players made the AFC West divisional all-star team, with three being on offense and two being on defense.
Here are the five players:
- WR: Ladd McConkey
- LT: Rashawn Slater
- RT: Joe Alt
- Nickel: Tarheeb Still
- Safety: Derwin James
McConkey, Slater, and Alt were representatives on the offensive side of the ball, rightfully so. Justin Herbert didn’t make the cut. But as long as Patrick Mahomes is still around, he will likely still own the top spot moving forward. Raiders rookie Ashton Jeanty was the representative for the running back position.
As for the defensive side of the ball, it’s good to see Tarheeb Still get his recognition. After leading the team with four interceptions, Still should only take his game to another level in his second season.
You could’ve made the argument for edge defender Khalil Mack and linebacker Daiyan Henley. Instead, for the EDGEs, it was Raiders’ Maxx Crosby and Broncos‘ Jonathan Cooper, while Chiefs’ Nick Bolton and Broncos’ Dre Greenlaw made up the LB category.
