39 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 39?

We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals, and we are less than six weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 39 days away.

As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let’s look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals.

Who has worn No. 39?

Cardinals players to wear No. 39

2024 seventh-round pick Jaden Davis, a cornerback, currently wears No. 39. He was just placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

  • CB Jaden Davis (2024-?)
  • CB Jace Whittaker (2020-2022)
  • CB Deatrick Nichols (2018)
  • RB Robert Hughes (2014)
  • S James Sanders (2012)
  • TE John Bronson (2006)
  • FB Dennis McKinley (1999-2002)
  • DB C.J. Richardson (1995)
  • RB Brian Henesey (1994)
  • RB Johnny Johnson (1990-1992)
  • RB Broderick Sargent (1986-1987)
  • RB Willard Harrell (1978-1984)
  • RB Cid Edwards (1968-1971)
  • DB Tony Curcillo (1953)
  • RB Billy deCorrevont (1947)
  • FB Al Drulis (1945-1946)
  • OL John Perko (1944)
  • RB Bunny Belden (1931)

There have not been many to wear No. 39. Harrell wore it the longest, while Johnny Johnson probably was the best. His rookie season in 1990 was solid. He finished second in Offensive Rookie of the Year to Emmitt Smith and made the Pro Bowl and nearly matched him in rushing yards and total scrimmage yards.
