The New Orleans Saints used their first pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft on Oklahoma Sooners linebacker Danny Stutsman, a high-end athlete with a lot of college experience. Stutsman, 22, started 37 of his 47 games at Oklahoama and twice led the team in tackles. He’s known for getting downhill in a hurry and making some big stops; he was credited with 36 tackles for loss in his Sooners career.
Weighing in at 6-foot-3 and 233 pounds, he timed the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.52 seconds and posted a 9.61 Relative Athletic Score. He’ll help out immediately in run defense and blitzing quarterbacks while competing with other guys to inherit the starting job from Demario Davis once he’s ready to hang up his cleats.
One area Stutsman needs to work on is his pass coverage, but he does a good job disrupting passing lanes with 11 deflections and 3 interceptions in his career. So long as the Saints can limit his exposure on passing downs and keep him going towards the line of scrimmage, not away from it, he could make an immediate impact.
