The New York Giants called the names of seven players over three days at the 2025 NFL draft beginning with Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and ending with Oklahoma State cornerback Korie Black.
General manager Joe Schoen has already begun to receive high praise for his draft haul from a value standpoint. He should receive equal praise from a need standpoint. On paper, the Giants improved significantly over the draft and outmaneuvered their opponents in the NFC East.
Looking back to the 2024 college season, here’s a quick snapshot of the PFF grades for each draftee and some analysis, assuming it was provided.
Round 1: EDGE Abdul Carter
2024 PFF grade: 91.3
PFF analysis:
It’s hard not to see some Micah Parsons in Carter, who not only wears the same No. 11 but also pops off the screen nearly every play due to being a rare caliber athlete. If he can get even stronger, he has All-Pro potential as a player worthy of a top-five pick.
Round 1: QB Jaxson Dart
2024 PFF grade: 92.5
PFF analysis:
Dart brings an intriguing two-sport throwing background (baseball and football) to the quarterback position, along with natural movement skills and playmaking ability outside of structure. However, much of his success at Ole Miss felt scheme-dependent. To truly attack defenses with anticipation and ball placement, he must improve his full-field reads and refine his fundamentals.
Round 3: DT Darius Alexander
2024 PFF grade: 90.1
PFF analysis:
Alexander was lightly recruited and was a late bloomer in college football (will be 25 in his rookie season), but his measurables and strength are NFL-caliber. He is a contributing NFL defensive lineman at worst due to his strength profile, with starting caliber impact potential in odd and even fronts.
Round 4: RB Cameron Skattebo
2024 PFF grade: 93.3
PFF analysis:
Skattebo plays the game in a manner that is easy to love: with a massive chip on his shoulder. NFL teams will gravitate toward his mentality, balance, tackle-breaking ability and after-contact consistency. He has the physical makeup of a three-down back.
Round 5: OL Marcus Mbow
2024 PFF grade: 74.0
PFF analysis:
Mbow is small and struggles with NFL-level strength in pass protection and when displacing in the run game. But he moves extremely well and should get a shot to start at guard or tackle at some point during his rookie contract.
Round 7: TE Thomas Fidone II
2024 PFF grade: 62.6
PFF analysis: N/A
Round 7: CB Korie Black
2024 PFF grade: 73.4
PFF analysis: N/A
