Adebawore’s 2024 season review
As the snap count figures bear out, Adebawore had a relatively small role on defense. While we know that DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart were leading the way at defensive tackle, Adebawore was also stuck behind Taven Bryan and Raekwon Davis on the depth chart.
When on the field, the Colts have tried to get Adebawore snaps during pass rush situations. He finished last season with three pressures and one sack over 76 pass rushing snaps. Against the run, Adebawore graded out as slightly below-average by PFF’s metrics.
A look ahead to the 2025 season
With Bryan and Davis no longer on the team, there is playing time up for grabs behind Buckner and Stewart. As we saw last season, four defensive tackles see regular snaps at this heavily rotated position.
Competing for those reps and third and fourth spots on the depth chart will be Adebawore, Neville Gallimore, Tim Smith, Eric Johnson, and others. I’ll also point out that keeping six defensive tackles on the 53-man is a lot, so potentially one of these four players could be left off the final roster.
After playing just 269 career defensive snaps over his first two seasons, this is a pivotal year for Adebawore. I’m not going to say it’s now or never, but progress feels like a must.
As a unit, the Colts very much need improved play from those on the depth chart behind Buckner and Stewart. Offenses found way too much success last season when those two weren’t on the field.
