2025 five-star power forward commits to Tennessee basketball

Tennessee added to its 2025 basketball recruiting class.

Five-star power forward Nate Ament committed to the Vols Sunday. He committed to Tennessee over Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky and Louisville.

“After a lot of thought and prayer, I’m blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Tennessee,” Ament said. “I’m incredibly grateful to all the coaches and programs who took the time to recruit me. Huge thanks to everyone who’s helped me get to this point — my family, coaches, teammates, and most importantly, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

He is from Highland School in Warrenton, Virginia.

Tennessee offered a scholarship to Ament on June 28, 2024. He officially visited Tennessee on Oct. 19, 2024, and Rick Barnes visited him on April 15.

Ament is the fourth commit in Tennessee’s 2025 basketball recruiting class.

Forward DeWayne Brown was first in the class of 2025 to commit to Tennessee on April 20, 2024. Small forward Amari Evans committed to the Vols on Nov. 1, 2024, while point guard Troy Henderson flipped his commitment from Fordham to Tennessee on March 25.

With Ament’s commitment, Tennessee now has five remaining scholarships available for its 2025-26 basketball roster.

Guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie from Maryland and forward Jaylen Carey from Vanderbilt committed to Tennessee during the spring NCAA transfer portal window.
