2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: CB Denzel Burke

The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.

Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook.

Next up is cornerback Denzel Burke.

Denzel Burke background, 2024 season

A Phoenix native who attended Brophy College Prep and Saguaro High School, Burke moved on to Ohio State where he started 51 games, the most ever by a Buckeyes defensive back. Overall, he was only the third player ever to start at least 50 games at Ohio State.

He had 143 tackles and four interceptions (one touchdown) in his college career and last season totaled 48 tackles and two interceptions. He was selected by the Cardinals in the fifth round of the draft.

Denzel Burke 2025 contract details, cap hit

Signing a four-year contract worth $4.5 million with a $320,216 signing bonus, Burke’s base salary this year is $840,000 and he has a salary-cap charge of $920,054.

2025 questions, roster outlook

A question everyone will wonder about throughout the summer is how many cornerbacks the Cardinals will keep on the roster. Locks appear to be Garrett Williams, Max Melton, Star Thomas V and Will Johnson. That means Burke, Elijah Jones and Kei’Trel Clark will be competing for one and at most two jobs on the roster. If a sixth survives, it will likely be based on special teams, which could bode well for Burke.
