The Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason opener has finally arrived — but as per norm, several starters and high-level players will be withheld from participating in Saturday’s contest vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On offense, defense, and special teams, here are the 15 Steelers who won’t be playing in the preseason opener on August 9.
- QB Aaron Rodgers
- WR DK Metcalf
- TE Jonnu Smith
- TE Pat Freiermuth
- LG Isaac Seumalo
- RB Jaylen Warren
- CB Joey Porter Jr.
- CB Darius Slay
- CB Jalen Ramsey
- S DeShon Elliott
- LB Patrick Queen
- DT Cam Heyward
- OLB T.J. Watt
- OLB Nick Herbig
- K Chris Boswell
Surprisingly enough, HC Mike Tomlin confirmed both of the Steelers’ punters — Cameron Johnston and Corliss Waitman — will play vs. the Jaguars, a clear sign of a brewing positional battle for fans to keep an eye on.
Chris Boswell also not playing vs. Jacksonville. But, Tomlin says, both punters will play. https://t.co/7WnjLgpxBD
